FEMI BAKARE: Thank you for having me

HOST: LET’S START WITH A BRIEF PROFILE ABOUT YOU

FEMI BAKARE: My name is Femi Bakare as you know, an indigene of Ondo state, and a graduate of Political Science Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo state. I am presently running my masters In Peace Studies and Conflicts Resolutions and more importantly I am a Gospel Artist…

HOST: Wow Wow Wow, Okay So What was the burning flame that kick-started your journey in music??

FEMI BAKARE: Thank you, well I would say it has always been there, I believe it wasn’t just a decision I chose to make, rather a decision that had been made that I had no choice than to work into it. So I will say the Flame ignition is from no other than My Creator Himself.

HOST:  Hmmm.  It just keeps getting interesting which brings me to a very important question.. WHAT HAS BEEN THE HURDLES IN THIS INDUSTRY AND HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO OVERCOME THEM?

FEMI BAKARE: I would be sincere with you, the hurdle majority of artists will say is money, finance to make and promote songs while it is one of the major hurdle, for me the major one is inconsistency but its changed now as we are taking it in a more “business like” manner, though hurdles are meant to serve as obstacles and deterrent to getting to the desired place quickly but they are meant to be surmounted to.

HOST: What a distinct perspective you have there, Sir

FEMI BAKARE: I’m Honoured

HOST: ARE YOU SIGNED TO ANY RECORD LABEL CURRENTLY?

FEMI BAKARE: No at the moment

HOST: Okay SO WHO PRODUCES YOUR MUSIC?

FEMI BAKARE: No one single producer, but majorly HORLIPY and BMIX, the former is Akure based while the latter is based in Abuja, NIGERIA

HOST: SO HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC?

FEMI BAKARE: It’s a Fusion of different genres, sometimes classical, jazz, etc… but built on Scriptural ,Spiritual and Spirited melody. I call it the 3S

HOST: WHY GOSPEL AND NOT R’N’B OR SOUL MUSIC?

FEMI BAKARE : *smiles* We are in a world where a lot of running more than their shadows , there is chaos visible for all to see, there is only one remedy to the malady my friend and that is the message of the Gospel, CHRIST

HOST: hmmmm… THE GOSPEL AS WE KNOW IS A BIT OVERCROWDED, HOW DO YOU INTEND TO SET OURSELF APART?

FEMI BAKARE: I want to believe you mean gospel music industry , there is always a space for everyone who has been called of God into any field no matter how hard it is to break in . of course to  break in, apart from being faithful to the One who has called me into this , staying with my style of music is quintessential, persistency they say breaks the hardest of rock. And God help me, I am breaking in shortly.

HOST: AMEN… YOUR SINGLE “KABIOOSI” IS LIKE EVERYONE’S FAVOURITE/MOST PLAYED, PLEASE TALK US THROUGH

FEMI BAKARE: Actually KABIOOSI is a song that depicts the Sovereign of Our king, None can question Him and Non can deny His Supremacy.

HOST: As a Singer with much achieved, Where do you see your music in the next 5 years?

FEMI BAKARE: By God’s grace and more hard work, consistency, my music should be on every lips across and beyond the nation impacting and transforming souls all across board.

HOST : Who are the professionals you look up to in this chosen field and why do you follow/learn from them?

FEMI BAKARE: Kenny Kore is someone I respect a lot, he is a deep minister, he speaks Life(zoe) in songs and Hillsong, those guys are amazing, their lyrics sometimes I tell myself like these guys put their ears to the chest of Angels to listen to how God is worshipped in the Heavenly.

HOST:  Lastly, What is your candid advice to all upcoming artistes especially those in your Chosen Niche?

FEMI BAKARE: We are all in this together, so will tell you my friend, stay true to the faith you Profess, be consistent in your style and never back down from this Faith
